Best Wishes for the New Year! May 2026 bring us love, reflection and reconnection. Outside, winter holds the landscape in stillness. Snow and ice cover the ground, lakes freeze, growth pauses. Ster Borgman’s work reflects this same suspended state. Through acts of material transformation, Borgman explores how nature endures extremes.

A powerful example of this approach is their regenerative Christmas tree system:the tree is topped halfway and sold, after which a new leader grows from the same trunk. After around four years, another tree can be harvested from the same root system—without destroying it. The soil remains intact, the mycelium network stays alive. The tree remains, but more importantly: the system stays healthy.

From 16-28 October ROOTS Exhibition is participating in the Dutch Design Week 2025. We are showing our brand new presentation 'Plantbased' at Piet Hein Eek in Eindhoven. We are urgently looking for exhibition attendants who want to contribute voluntarily. It would be great if during DDW you will be present (scheduled), to keep an eye on things. We provide snacks and drinks, and of course te opportunity to meet many interesting visitors, artists, designers and guests.
