With Milan Design Week behind us, it's time to begin a new chapter. We are proud to announce the very first ROOTS Embassy, hosted in the beautiful canal house of ROOTS partner Yumeko on Amsterdam's Herengracht. Throughout the month of September, Yumeko's stunning garden room will become the temporary home of Bedtime Stories —a continuation of Sleeping Beauty – A Symbiotic Symphony, first presented during ROOTS Milano.

Excited to see part of the ROOTS Collection featured in ‘Materia Milanese’, the latest edition of The Textile Eye. To see ROOTS included in this context is especially meaningful. It reflects the strength of collaboration and the diversity of the creative community behind ROOTS Exhibition. We know baker's yeast mainly from bread, beer, and wine. But did you know that the same yeast could also play a role in construction? At ROOTS, we are constantly exploring emerging materials that challenge conventional thinking and push the boundaries of sustainable product innovation. Researchers have developed a fully bio-based, 3D-printable material by combining deactivated baker's yeast with wood fibres, alginate extracted from brown seaweed and plant-based glycerol.

A powerful example of this approach is their regenerative Christmas tree system:the tree is topped halfway and sold, after which a new leader grows from the same trunk. After around four years, another tree can be harvested from the same root system—without destroying it. The soil remains intact, the mycelium network stays alive. From 16-28 October ROOTS Exhibition is participating in the Dutch Design Week 2025. We are showing our brand new presentation 'Plantbased' at Piet Hein Eek in Eindhoven. We are urgently looking for exhibition attendants who want to contribute voluntarily. It would be great if during DDW you will be present (scheduled), to keep an eye on things. We provide snacks and drinks, and of course te opportunity to meet many interesting visitors, artists, designers and guests.
