ROOTS Exhibition @DDW25 is a wrap
"Design Starts and Ends in the Soil", that was the core message of ROOTS Exhibition “Plant Based” during last week’s Dutch Design Week at Piet Hein Eek in Eindhoven. It beautifully captured how design can reconnect us with nature and material origin.

Studio Aga Blonska, Klarenbeek & Dros, Ster Borgman, herman de vries, Tom Schoonhoven, Piet Hein Eek x Studio Simone van Es, Milah van Zuilen, LOADS Collection
Visitors were surrounded by designers and brands exploring biobased and regenerative materials. From a mycelium printed facade to art litteraly made from nature, plant based dyed art and textiles, waterproof (grown!) couture, a light fixture made from earth, a stool made from a blooming fibre crop, biodegradable light design, music playing fungi, plant based dyed anodised (recycled) aluminium, the impact of our foodsystem on the amazone explained, to recycled 3D printed marble sound sculptures crafted from marble waste. We made it and it's a wrap!

A big thank you to all participating artists and studios for sharing your inspiring work and energy throughout the week:

Thanks to all our visitors who managed to find us in all kinds of weather and in large numbers. Thank you volunteers and participants who passionately shared the ROOTS story with me and showed beautiful work. Thank you everyone at Piet Hein Eek for your hospitality and the beautiful exhibition space. And last but not least special thanks to Rabobank, Heijmans, SAM Panels and Modular Lighting Instruments for making 'Plant Based' possible!
Full throttle on to Milano now, keeping you posted along the way..!
