BRYCK
Prototype Bio-based Lounge Chair (ROOTS Edition)
We’re proud to welcome BRYCK as a ROOTS participant during Milano Design Week, presented within the inspiring setting of Masterly Milano.
For this occasion, BRYCK introduces a dedicated ROOTS edition of their iconic lounge chair—developed as a prototype exploring fully biobased and circular design. The chair is made from 100% natural materials: linen and wool. The linen, woven in Belgium, is derived from flax—one of the world’s oldest fibres with minimal ecological impact. The inner compartments are filled with wool from the Hollands Wolcollectief, a renewable material that can be reused, recycled and ultimately returned to nature.
The development of this chair focuses on minimising material use while working exclusively with sustainable resources. Over time, the materials soften and gain character, integrating naturally with their surroundings. At the end of its lifecycle, the chair can fully biodegrade—returning to the soil.
More than a prototype, this piece reflects a growing ambition within Dutch design to move towards biobased and circular systems. Within ROOTS – Sleeping Beauty, a Symbiotic Symphony, it represents a quiet awakening—where design, material and ecology come back into balance. Where the future quite literally grows from the ground up.
