Studio LoopLoop
Plant Dyed, recycled Aluminium
Coffee Table, vases and lamp
The coffee table, vases and lamp are made from plant-dyed aluminium. All patterns and colours are achieved by applying red onion skins by hand on the piece. The table was first presented at Alcova Miami 2024, along with a collection of vases and a mini-laboratory demonstrating the studio’s plant-dyeing process on aluminium. For the vases all colours and patterns are obtained using plant material that is applied by hand on each piece.

Chromoloop
Chromoloop is a world-first that is the fruit of a research project by studio LoopLoop. It allows to colour aluminium using plant-based dyes, replacing standard petrol-based ones. The delicate patterns and colours that can be achieved are dictated by the plants that are used, contrasting with the robust materiality of aluminium. With the ambition to further explore questions of sustainable production and locality, the studio created its own dye garden consisting exclusively of plants species that are either native from- or naturalized in the Netherlands.
